Project Helping Hands

Assisting Marginalized Communities in Accra, Ghana

"For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink......."Matthew 25:35

Our Story

In March 23, 2020 Heads Hearts ‘n’ Hands launched a GoFundMe campaign to assist marginalized communities in Ghana during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Funds raised from this campaign were used in the following initiatives:

Mobirise

Distributing Hand Sanitizers

Initial funds raised were used in purchasing hand sanitizers. These were distributed to 300 homes in Nima and Mamobi.

Mobirise

Donation of Masks and Gloves

Additionally, face masks and gloves were purchased for health personnel at the Madina Polyclinic Kekele. This clinic is severely under-resourced health facility that caters to highly populated marginalised communities

Mobirise

Feeding Initiative

Seventeen families who had been severely impacted by the temporary shutdown during the COVID-19 pandemic were identified in Nima and Mamobi and provided with food items for a period of three weeks.

Where we are now - Project Helping Hands

As we got to know these seventeen families and heard their stories we realized that they will need assistance beyond three weeks of food supply. Heads Hearts ‘n’ Hands and their partners are launching Project Helping Hands to provide additional assistance to these families.  Our goal is to provide basic necessities for these families (food, toiletries, clothing) beyond three weeks.

About us

Who we are

Heads Hearts ‘n’ Hands (H³) - Betty Blay Ackah and Benjamin Sackar (founders).
H³ is purpose-driven not-for-profit corporate entity dedicated to the less privileged and the marginalised in Ghana. At its core, H³ is a people-centred organisation set up to help support the large segment of the population stuck in a poverty rut.

What We Do

Give a person a fish, and you feed them for a day; teach a person to fish and you feed them for a lifetime. (Variation of a quote by Lao Tzu).

The above citations informed the creation of Heads Hearts ‘n’ Hands (H³) and continue to constitute our guiding principles. One of the cruelest aspects of living in poverty is that people are robbed of their dignity, unable to cater for themselves and their families in the simplest ways.

Why We Do It

We believe that it is not enough to provide people in need with a steady stream of handouts. People should be concurrently given the right resources to discover, develop and meaningfully utilize their abilities and capacities. The research is undeniable that when people take ownership of their socioeconomic improvement, it is more sustained.
